Hello World

Hi there,

finally I have decided to join the trend and start blogging. There are several reasons why I chose do so. The two main ones are:

  • I want to publish information in a more informal way. I have many ideas regarding small articles and code-snippets which may be useful for other people and are very useful for myself because I keep forgetting stuff.
  • I started working as a freelance software developer and since I’m mostly working at home this means no more (or much less) office chat. I hope this blog is a way to keep in touch with old (and new) colleagues and customers to inform them of what I’m working on right now. Hopefully it will spur some discussion.

There’s really not much more to say. We’ll see how this blog will develop. I must admit I’m very exited about it.

    i just checked your html code, and some how i see OpenCms AND wordpress stuff…. What the hell are you doing there?

    Hi Michael,

    great you stopped by! No I’m not using OpenCms for blogging (yet.. I use it for content management) but I use a mixture of both. The “/blog” URL of the website is mapped to a WordPress instance. Inside the WordPress-Templates I’m using an HTTP Client to fetch parts of my OpenCms-Template + Navigation using the “__element” parameter. This way I can manage the layout of both applications in OpenCms. It works quite good… I always wanted to write a blogpost about it.

    The ultimate goal of course is to run WordPress inside OpenCms with my scripting extension. I think I found a hook to make PHP completly VFS-Aware. Unfortunately I currently have no time to dig deeper.

    no, sorry, i won’t make it this time :(

    i will still be in parental leave and i had planned already for long time something else on those days…
